Boeings Oldest Airliner is a 1928 model
This Boeing Airliner is the oldest in active service. It is the Boeing 40C. This aircraft took 8 years to restore and is currently in Spokane, Washington. This magnificent flying machine took over 18,000 man hours to restore. The FAA issued a Standard Airworthiness Certificate and completed the engine pre-oil and fuel flow tests for the first taxi tests. There were 82 built in the world. Check it out.

- This aircraft took 221 1/2 gallons of fabric dope and reduce with over 120 yards of fabric.
- 12 gallons of poly urethane paint for sheet metal parts
- Used 350, two inch brushes to apply 6 gallons of West Systems epoxy and used 181 rolls paper towels to clean it up.
- The wings have over 33,000 individual parts in them.
- The airplane weighs 4080 lbs empty and has a gross weight of 6075 lbs.
- The aircraft is 34 ft long and 13 ft. tall with a wingspan of 44.5 ft.
- The wing loading is 10 lbs per sq.ft. and power loading is 10 lbs per horsepower.
- It cruises at 115 mph and uses 28 gallons per hour. At 120 mph, it uses 32 gallons of gas per hour.
- 62 Volunteers worked on this project. There were 21 people who performed a significant amount of work. There were 9 people who worked the entire 8 years on her.
