January 2, 2010 - Orange Beach Inshore Fishing Report
Today was a great day to go inshore fishing in Orange Beach, ALabama.  The wind was out of the north and it was cold.  We got on the water and started fishing just after 8:15 a.m.   We stopped at our honey hole to catch some Sheepshead and they were eating it up.  The tide was in our favor at Alabama point this morning.  We fished for a couple of hours and we decided to move just offshore and fish for Bull Redfish.  We went to an area where we had some luck earlier this week and we ended up catching a few before returning to dock by noon.  It was overall a great day fishing in Orange Beach.

December 28, 2009 -  Orange Beach Fishing Report
The Bull Redfish are biting like crazy on cold days with northerly winds.  The usually mild Orange Beach, Alabama climate has been unusually unpredictable this winter.  "Christmas has past and the new year approaches the Alabama Gulf Coast and fishing is great", says Captain Troy Frady of Distraction Charters of Zekes Landing Marina in Orange Beach.  The Bull Redfish bite has been slow just after the rains.  There is something about the fresh water that pushes these monsters a little further offshore in search of bait fish.  This morning, we had north winds at 15 to 20 and the outside air temperature was in the mid 30's at 8 a.m..  We started fishing right outside the Perdido Pass and saw birds working to the east.  We trolled our stretch 30, Mann's Bait Lures  for about 15 minutes before we had our first strike.  The tide was moving out and the water around Alabama point was extremely muddy.  However, the large Bull Redfish hit our brightest lure.   We moved further east and would occasionally run through a school and every rod would be screaming.   We normally look for birds working but today, the birds gave us false hope.  They were diving and moving quickly.  It was hard to stay up with them.  We did get find some areas close to shore that were very productive.   The fishing was fun and the action was incredible.
